Types of Corrugated Box
By Wall Construction (Ply)
- 3-Ply / Single Wall: One corrugated medium between two flat liners. Lightweight,
cost-effective and most widely used for e-commerce, retail and light consumer
goods.
- 5-Ply / Double Wall: Two corrugated mediums with a central liner. Significantly
higher stacking and puncture strength ideal for FMCG, glass, automotive parts and
heavy retail goods.
- 7-Ply / Triple Wall: Three corrugated mediums with four liners the heaviest-duty
construction. Replaces wooden crates for industrial machinery, heavy equipment
and export shipments.
By Box Style
- RSC (Regular Slotted Container): All flaps same length the most common
worldwide format (FEFCO 0201). Standard for general shipping and e-commerce
fulfilment.
- HSC (Half Slotted Container): Open-top style used with a separate lid or for
display. Common on automated packing lines and retail shelf displays.
- Die-Cut Box: Custom-shaped with cutouts, h and les and display windows. Ideal
for premium brands, gift packaging and D2C unboxing experiences.
- Telescope Box: Separate lid and base configuration. Superior protection for
electronics, high-value goods and display packaging.
- Tray / Bliss Box: Flat-bottom tray with sidewalls. Common for fresh produce,
bakery items and FMCG products.
- Custom / Specialty: Any configuration engineered to specification for industrial,
automotive and export requirements.
By Flute Profile
- A-Flute (~4.7 mm): Highest cushioning used for fragile goods and glassware.
- B-Flute (~2.4 mm): Good puncture resistance common for canned goods and
retail boxes.
- C-Flute (~3.5 mm): All-purpose standard the most widely used flute profile in
India.
- E-Flute (~1.2 mm): Thin and rigid preferred for premium retail, cosmetics and
point-of-sale display.
- BC-Flute / Double (~6 mm): Very high strength used for heavy goods and
industrial containers.

Manufacturing Process
- Raw Material Procurement: Premium 50 BF kraft paper sourced from certified mills.
Each incoming roll is inspected for GSM, moisture content and tensile strength before
entering production.
- Corrugation: Kraft sheets pass through precision corrugating rolls at controlled heat
and pressure to form the characteristic flute profile B, C, E, or BC flute depending on the
specification.
- Laminating & Slitting: Fluted sheets are starch-bonded to liners under regulated
pressure to form single, double, or triple-wall board, then slit and scored to size.
- Printing: Approved artwork is printed via flexographic or offset press using UV
resistant inks. Single to multi-colour output with sharp registration and consistent
colour fidelity.
- Die-Cutting & Slotting: Boards are cut, slotted and creased to final box dimensions
using precision die-cutting equipment. H and les, windows and perforations are added
at this stage.
- In-Process Quality Checks: Glue strength, board flatness (warp test) and
dimensional accuracy are verified at each production stage. R and om samples are
tested for moisture and medium adhesion.
- Final Quality Testing: Finished boxes are subjected to Bursting Factor (BF), Edge
Crush Test (ECT) and Cobb Value tests per BIS IS 7063 methodology before dispatch
clearance is issued.
- Flat Packing & Dispatch: Approved boxes are flat-packed in bundles, strapped and
labelled. Orders are dispatched with batch traceability records maintained for every
consignment.
Key Quality Parameters Tested
- Bursting Factor (BF): Puncture resistance under internal pressure primary
strength indicator for corrugated box.
- Edge Crush Test (ECT): Vertical stacking strength of the corrugated board
determines maximum column load.
- Cobb Value: Water absorption resistance of liner papers critical for humid
transport and storage environments.
- GSM Grammage: Paper weight verification against specification for each
incoming raw material lot.
- Warp Test: Flatness of corrugated board for compatibility with high-speed
automated packing machinery.
- Glue Bond Strength: Minimum 95–100% surface adhesion between medium and
liner tested on every production batch.
- Dimensional Accuracy: Length, width and height tolerance verification per batch
to ensure consistent box fit.
Raw Materials & Input Quality
- Kraft Liner Paper: Premium 50 BF (Bursting Factor) grade the outer and inner face
sheets providing printability, tensile strength and surface finish quality.
- Corrugating Medium: Semi-chemical fluting paper forming the wavy core
available in B, C, E and BC flute profiles based on application requirements.
- Water-Resistant Adhesive: Food-safe, water-resistant starch-based adhesive
ensuring superior glue bond strength tested for 95–100% surface adhesion on
corrugated board.
- Printing Inks: Non-toxic, fast-drying flexographic inks single or multi-colour
options. UV-resistant for long shelf and transit life.
- Moisture Coatings: Applied on request for cold-chain, high-humidity
environments, or export applications extends board performance under wet
conditions.
